Swedish hard rockers Mama Kin should turn some heads with their rowdy yet amazingly catchy arena style of rock and roll. Mama Kin boasts some impressive skills on their very first full length disc,
In The City. The songs are huge rushes of lush vocal arrangements, big melodic hooks, and no nonsense rocking guitar solos. Lead vocalist Ward sounds suspiciously like Paul Stanley merged with a small bit of Ozzy Osbourne for a smooth delivery over a razor's edge. And much like their peers KISS, Mama Kin packs a huge amount of energy and music, with an abundance of sexual swagger and innuendo, into each song. For fun, there's a few clever cowbell hooks as well.
In The City is a thoroughly consistent work from beginning to end with Badge and a Gun, Higher & Higher, Superman, and You Belong to Me some of the best highlights.
In The City is solid debut and should propel Mama Kin to instant recognition along side other Scandi favorites like The Poodles.
